(eap) The fact that rope play equipment can also appear with a special theme is demonstrated by a newly erected climbing structure in Berlin. Designed as a “hot air balloon” with a red and white cover around a large spatial net structure, a new play structure delights children of different ages on Schneckenburgstraße alley in Berlin. The ascent first takes place via a “basket” section (as it also belongs to a “real” hot air balloon) and can then be climbed to the very top via various routes, each with a different level of difficulty.

“The size of the ‘flying object’ in particular caused the children’s eyes to widen on the opening day. Some even estimated its height at 30 to 40 meters,” reports Berliner Seilfabrik, a manufacturer of rope play equipment also based in the German capital, who have implemented their “Lunia L” product with the climbing balloon. The structure is actually ten meters high and measures 5.7 meters in width and depth. Including the required safety area, the occupied area increases to 7.9 x 7.9 meters. Find out why playgrounds are indispensable and what milestones the family-run Berlin rope play equipment company has achieved in its 160-year history in the May/June issue of EAP Trade Magazine. ■
