Closure of Multi-Billion Dollar Deal: 21st Century Fox Acquired by Disney
After the completion of merger and other regulatory reviews, The Walt Disney Company has recently completed its acquisition deal with Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox (21CF) at total transaction costs of 71 billion US Dollar (over 63 billion Euro, cf. EAP News f. July 31st, 2018) – 21CF is now part of the Disney conglomerate.
“This is an extraordinary and historic moment for us – one that will create significant long-term value for our company and our shareholders. Combining Disney’s and 21st Century Fox’s wealth of creative content and proven talent created the preeminent global entertainment company, well positioned to lead in an incredibly dynamic and transformative era,” says Robert A. Iger, Chairman & CEO, The Walt Disney Company.
The acquisition of 21CF will allow Disney to provide more appealing high-quality content and entertainment options to meet growing consumer demand and increase its international footprint, e.g. by the launch of the “Disney+” video-on-demand streaming service in late 2019. (eap)
