Congratulations! Doppelmayr Celebrates 130th Anniversary

(eap) The Austrian ropeway and cable car specialist Doppelmayr recently celebrated its 130th anniversary. Since its establishment in 1893 by Konrad Doppelmayr, the Wolfurt-based company has grown to become one of world market leaders in ropeway construction. Examples of special milestones in the company’s 130-year history include the opening of the first ski lift in 1937 in Zürs am Arlberg in Austria, the first “Cable Liner®” in Las Vegas at the end of the 1990s and the spectacular installation of the “Peak 2 Peak” tricable ropeway in Whistler Blackcomb, Canada.
The company’s anniversary celebration was kicked off with the “Doppelmayr Big Band”, which is formed by musically active employees from a wide range of company departments. Doppelmayr’s Managing Director Thomas Pichler addressed words of thanks to his team: “It’s not the companies that take on challenges and defy the odds and walk a path of trial and tribulation, but it’s the employees who keep breaking new ground with their ideas and inspirations”.
Exciting projects are also on the company’s agenda for the future, such as the urban ropeway in the greater Paris area planned for 2025. ■
