Doppelmayr to Build 8-Kilometer Cableway in Vietnam

This past September construction works for a new major Doppelmayr Seilbahnen project started: As of the second quarter in 2017 an eight-kilometer 3S Doppelmayr cableway will connect the islands of Phú Quốc and Hòn Thom located in South Vietnam, west of the mainland. The Austrian company was awarded the contract by Sun Group Corporation. In the past Doppelmayr has already realized several projects for the investment group. According to the manufacturer, the new attraction “Hòn Thom” will not only be the longest 3S cableway but also the longest one section aerial cableway in the world. The facility will feature six pillars of a height of up to 160 meters as well as two stations. The CWA cabin will offer space for up to 30 persons at the same time, which – at a speed of 30.6 kilometers per hour – leads to capacities of up to 3,500 passengers per hour and direction. It will take 15.6 minutes to cover the distance of eight kilometers. The cableway will also features an evacuation concept which ensures the passengers’ safety in case of rescue. (eap)
