Denmark: Fårup Sommerland Appoints Per Dam Jensen as New CEO
Following the retirement of Fårup Sommerland’s former co-owner and CEO Søren Kragelund (c.f. EAP, issue 1/17), the owner family Schnack and the board recently appointed Per Dam Jensen as new CEO.
The 49-year-old, who worked for Fårup as a seasonal employee and Human Resources Manager years ago, has many years of management experience in the entertainment and amusement park industries. From 2012 until 2013, he was board member and CEO of Fårup until he took over the position as CEO of the Scandinavian Sandrew Metronome film and music company. Per Dam Jensen is looking forward to his new position: “I have previously stated that to lead Fårup Sommerland was a dream position – and it still is. Fårup has a special place in my heart, and even though I’m very happy with my current job, I was incredibly pleased to be approached and asked if I was interested in leading Fårup. The circumstances are different now from before, and I was never in any doubt. I’m really looking forward to applying myself to the development of Fårup with the new board, owners and the incredibly talented staff of permanent and seasonal workers,” he said.
Chairman Ole Mølgaard added: “We are very pleased to announce Per as the new CEO. He knows Fårup, we know him and we know what he stands for. He shares the Board’s and the new owners’ desire to continue the robust development of Fårup Sommerland as one of North Jutland’s premier experiences and one of Denmark’s best amusement parks. His previous experience means he can quickly take up the position, and the new owners and board are confident they have found the right person for the position,” said Mølgaard.
The Danish amusement park will re-open its gates for the 2017 season on May 6th – visitors can already look forward to the new thrill ride “Hvirvelvinden” (Eng.: “Whirlwind”), opening this year (c.f. EAP news from October 27th, 2016). (eap)
