Denmark: Fårup Sommerland Launches Live Streaming from Rollercoaster

As of this month Denmark’s amusement park Fårup Sommerland offers those who do not dare a ride with the 2013 opened suspended coaster “Orkanen” (cf. EAP, issue 6/2012) the possibility to take part in the ride adventure from the ground. Therefore, a Gistrup Film camera has been mounted on the back cart, aimed at the occupants of the two back seats – the so-called “LiveSeat”. To be able to stream park guests have to log on to Fårup Sommerland’s Wi-Fi. Then they have to scan a QR code with their smartphone for direct access to the live stream signal, enabling them to witness the up to 75 kilometers per hour ride. The LiveSeat has been developed in cooperation with the Danish internet supplier Bredbånd Nord. “We wanted to do something spectacular and came up with this idea of live streaming from one of the seats of our wildest rollercoaster, the Orkanen. Guests in the park can now watch as friends and family, seated right at the back of the rollercoaster, react to speed, turns and dives on the ride,” Fårup’s Marketing Manager Rasmus Mortensen explains.
