EWA Seminar: “New Attractions for Children in Waterparks and Leisure Pools”
(eap) On October 8, 2024, the European Waterpark Association (EWA) is holding a seminar on “New Attractions for Children in Waterparks and Leisure Pools“ at Hotel Victory (at Therme Erding in Upper Bavaria). Participants will look at the play needs of different age groups and how to design water play landscapes that stimulate imagination. Prof. Dr. Rolf Schwarz from the Karlsruhe University of Education, who deals with the play development of children of pre-school and primary school age, will give a lecture (in German language). Furthermore, Chris Lange, owner of Creative Studio Berlin (CSB), will talk about storytelling as an approach for designing children’s adventure worlds and Harald Gabriel from the Gesellschaft für Entwicklung und Management von Freizeitsystemen (GMF) will use the example of the “Gumbalino KinderLand” at Gumbala Bade- und Saunaland, which opened in 2017, to show how a regional indoor pool can reposition itself as a family pool.
After a shared lunch, the seminar participants are given a general overview of the wide range of attractions and offers for children and young people that are available in addition to classic water slides. From splash zones and spray parks to ninja cross courses and play areas... Current trends such as Virtual Reality (VR) applications and interactive multimedia play concepts will also be presented. Rainer Braun and Jochen Bohnet from Aquarena Freizeitanlagen, Remco Snoep from Watergames & More (now part of Vortex International), Remy Perron from Roigk, Ágnes Szűcs from Eleven, Dr. Peter Teichmann from API Water Fun, Gregor Gleibs from SIK-Holzgestaltung, Uwe Roth from Roth & Challier Erlebnisanlagen and Oliver Bunsen from Vertigo Systems will provide their expertise and input.
Participation in the (mostly German-speaking) seminar is limited to enable intensive joint seminar work, which is why the EWA advises early registration. Registration is possible here in the exclusive member area or here as a guest registration. ■
