New Indoor Pool in Alsdorf Ensures Swimming Opportunity & Water Fun
(eap) The German town of Alsdorf (region of Aachen, North-Rhine Westphalia) has a new indoor swimming pool: Since last weekend, swimming enthusiasts and recreation-seeking people have been able to visit the new Annabad. The facility offers a 25-metre pool, a three-metre diving tower, a teaching pool for swim sport lessons and a water playground for the youngest guests. This new indoor pool, which is located in the town’s Anna Park – a local recreation area with play, sports and skate parks on the site of the former Anna colliery – was commissioned by the city in order to guarantee for future swim sport options for local schools, clubs and citizens. Alsdorf invested some 17.4 million Euros into the project. KRIEGER Architekten were responsible for the planning – the design concept for the buildings was realised in a shape reminiscent of glowing coals, referring to the town’s industrial history. Pellikaan, a construction company with an office in the nearby city of Ratingen, was commissioned as general contractor. ■
