New Public Pool De Watergeus Opens in Zoetermeer

(eap) A new public pool opened last weekend in the Dutch municipality of Zoetermeer, which is located in South Holland between The Hague and Utrecht. De Watergeus is the name of the new leisure pool, which is located in the Van Tuyllpark municipal park and replaces the ageing De Driesprong pool.

“De Watergeus swimming pool is a valuable addition to our city. It offers Zoetermeer a new place to meet, relax, learn and play sports. This is a long-awaited moment that both I as a councillor and all the residents of Zoetermeer have been waiting for,” says town council Ronald Weerwag.

The new public swimming pool has a 25-metre competition pool with eight lanes and a grandstand for 200 spectators as well as a leisure pool with a lifting floor, which also has a whirlpool and a family wide slide of the “WaveRider” type from manufacturer Watergames & More. Also, there is a longer tube slide of the “Challenger” product type and a “Thrillseeker” slide for the brave who are not afraid of a steeper gradient and higher speeds.

The younger target group has also been thought of, with a shallow toddler pool in the indoor area as well as a spray park in the outdoor area. Watergames & More was also responsible for both play facilities, with the various play equipment on the water areas being supplied by partner Waterplay Solutions Corp. For Watergames & More, which is itself based in Zoetermeer, the implementation of the attractions is a real home game.

Furthermore, the new leisure pool has a gastronomy area with a view of the pools as well as a sunbathing lawn with the water playground and an outdoor terrace. Although there is no outdoor pool, part of the roof and façade of the leisure and toddler pool can be opened on warm days, allowing visitors to swim or splash around outdoors and creating a passageway to the sunbathing lawn. ■
