Germany: Autostadt Wolfsburg Starts Design Exhibition Series
In November, Germany’s Autostadt, located in the city of Wolfsburg, has started a design exhibition series entitled “DESIGN DISPLAY” dealing with current issues in the field of design and presenting a broadened concept of design. Situated on the second floor of the “KonzernForum” building, each of the three-month temporary exhibitions features two exhibits illustrating how good design can combine the day-to-day world with the vision of the future. This combination is aimed at attracting not only visitors to Autostadt but also the international designer scene.
The exhibition series was created by the curators Dr. Maria Schneider (Autostadt) and Friedrich von Borries (Projektbüro Friedrich von Borries) in cooperation with a design team consisting of Konstantin Grcic (Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design), Jesko Fezer (Kooperative für Darstellungspolitik) and Nicolas Bourquin (onlab). The design team was also in charge of developing a 20 meter long and 2.40 meter high vitrine, which hosts the exhibits, as well as the architectural redesign of the showroom situated in the design exhibition area. The first exhibition will run until the end of January 2016, before the next three-month presentation will start in February. (eap)
