Germany: Internorga 2016 Starts Today
Today Hamburg’s exhibition center opened its doors for the 90th edition of Internorga, Europe’s leading trade show for the hotel, restaurant, catering, baking and confectionery industry. Until Wednesday, March 16, about 1,300 exhibitors from 25 countries will present their products and services on a 100,000-square meter exhibition space. The trade show’s organizer Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH expects some 95,000 professional visitors who will learn about the latest industry trends within the next few days.
In its anniversary year, the Internorga is accompanied by an interesting and diverse framework program, which also features some new events. This year’s event highlights include new competition formats organized by Hamburg Messe in cooperation with some well-known gastronomy professionals. For the first time ever, 18 talented cooks from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will prove their skills in the course of the “Next Chef Award” cooking contest, which is initiated by the famous Austrian cook Johann Lafer. The “Gastro Startup” competition will give six finalists the opportunity to present their gastronomy concepts that afterwards will be judged by the trade show’s professional visitors. As usual, this year's Internorga will also offer an informative congress program. Conferences such as the “International Foodservice Forum” or the “German Catering Congress” will provide the visitors with new ideas and inspirations. (eap)
