Germany: Miniaturland Leer Will Grow
Within the next few years the model building area of the city of Leer’s Miniaturland, which shows a miniature version of Germany’s East Friesland region at a scale of 1:87, will grow by 2,000 square meters, leading to a total area of 2,600 square meters. Currently, the first existing exhibition hall, which was opened in 2011, shows East Friesland’s western part. Once completed, the two-story second hall will also present miniature versions of the district of Ammerland, cities such as Oldenburg, Cloppenburg, Friesoythe, Jever and Wilhelmshaven, the regions surrounding Carolienensiel and Harlingerland as well as further East Frisian Islands. Additional plans include the opening of a 900 square meter shopping mall and the enlargement of the adventure and recreation park to a total of 13,300 square meters. Themed gardens, a bonsai park, water games and an 18-hole golf course will complete the offer. (eap)
