Italy: Bernard Giampaolo Appointed as Mirabilandia’s New General Director

Since the beginning of this week Bernard Giampaolo has been the new General Director of Italy’s Mirabilandia amusement park, succeeding Giovanni Cavalli. During the last nine years Giampaolo served as General Manager at Marineland, a theme park located at France’s Côte d’Azur. Counting around 1.5 million visitors each year, Mirabilandia is one of Italy’s largest amusement parks. Mirabilandia and Marineland both belong to Spain’s Parques Reunidos Group. The director of the zoological division of Parques Reunidos, Jesús Fernández Morán, will temporarily lead Marineland until a new General Director has been appointed.

Currently Marineland is working on its reconstruction after a major part of the park was flooded due to heavy storms that hit Côte d’Azur at the beginning of October. While the marine mammals survived, a number of fishes and turtles as well as several petting zoo animals fell victim to the storms. (eap)
