Liechtenstein/Germany: Environmental Awareness Apparently High
While in some places people are only talking about or demanding a more responsible use of resources and the protection of the environment, the awareness of investors of these topics seems to have grown considerably. This is the conclusion German road train manufacturer Sightseeing Trains has come to. Their individually designed trains and trams are especially popular at tourist destinations, but also in leisure and adventure parks.
“The acceptance of the product is visibly increasing,” comments Wieland Schwarzkopf, responsible for sales at Sightseeing Trains. Especially the electrically-driven trains see a high demand, according to Schwarzkopf. Just recently, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of “City Train Vaduz”, Sightseeing Trains brought a modern electric train into test operation in Liechtenstein’s capital city. “The presentation of the electric train in Vaduz received enormous political attention,” says Schwarzkopf. Numerous guests, from Liechtenstein and abroad, have explored the city with the tram in recent years. A trip takes about 35 minutes and is offered in 29 languages. “It was a great pleasure for us that the owner of City Train AG, Daniel Real, had requested one of our electric trains for the anniversary,” comments Sightseeing Trains’ owner Roger Pieniak.
In 2019 and 2020, a large number of these environmentally friendly electric trains will start into operation throughout Europe. Clients include the Biosphere Reserve Schaalsee in the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as well as locations in the cities of Cologne, Regensburg and Wernigerode. (eap)
