More Six Flags Novelties in 2025: New Records & Major Investments
(eap) A total of seven new roller coasters are set to make their debut at Six Flags theme parks in the 2025 season. Some of the new rides were already announced a few weeks ago (see our EAP news) – further announcements have now followed, including a new record-breaking coaster for Six Flags Great America and the most comprehensive expansion to date of the Hurricane Harbor water park in Arlington (Texas), which is also part of the Six Flags portfolio.
“Wrath of Rakshasa” is the name of the upcoming new Dive Coaster from Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), which is set to provide fresh thrills for visitors to the Six Flags Great America park from 2025. With elements such as a 96-degree steep and a 171-foot (over 52-meter) high drop – according to Six Flags, the steepest drop of any dive coaster in the world – and a total of five inversions (also a new world record for dive coasters), a new anchor attraction is being created for the park located in Gurnee (Illinois).
The Six Flags New England park and its visitors can also look forward to a new roller coaster: a Straddle Coaster (manufacturer’s ride type name) with several LSM launches will open there in the 2025 season. The ride will be called “Quantum Accelerator”. Passengers will be able to race along the track in cars designed as futuristic motor bikes at a maximum speed of over 45 mph (72 km/h), which will include eleven airtime moments.
The Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park in Arlington (Texas) is undergoing the most extensive expansion in its history to date. A new, coastal-themed area with a multi-level water play structure covering over 58,000 square feet (5,300 square meters) with a total of 110 water features, seven water slides and a tipping water bucket with a capacity of over 1,000 gallons (3,700 liters) of water is to be created for the 2025 season. Among the slides announced are a “Mini Tornado” and a “Mini Wave Slide”. In addition, a new splash pad, family cabanas and junior-sized lounge furniture will ensure best family fun.
Kings Island’s Soak City Water Park is getting a water coaster. Under the name “RiverRacers”, the “first and only dual-racing water coaster in the US state of Ohio” will provide splashing fun. The track elements include a three-storey drop, uphill sections, open and closed tube sections and a 180-degree high-bank turn. Younger bathers can also look forward to seven new kiddie slides and a splash lagoon in the “Splash River Junction” area.
The Hurricane Harbor water park in Los Angeles (California) is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025. To mark its “birthday”, the park is undergoing a comprehensive transformation, including the creation of expanded shaded areas, seating, cabanas, and a wider range of amenities to boost comfort and convenience. The park’s ambience will be revitalized with colorful slide and structure refurbishments, added landscaping and upgraded F&B options. ■
