After the museum already had a successful stop with a temporary exhibition in Miami in 2018, locals and tourists will be able to discover the new, permanent location from September 6 this year onwards. It will cover some 14,000 square feet (over 1,300 square meters) on two floors, where even the adult visitors are supposed to feel like kids again. The interactive museum combines exhibition rooms about the history of ice cream with playful elements. Also, visitors will be able to enjoy an unlimited amount of ice cream.

Museum highlights include the retro “Cream Liner”, a luxury “airplane” inspired by the 1960s, which takes visitors from downtown Miami to a world of unlimited possibilities where anything is “pop-sicle”. Furthermore, the “Grand Hall of Freezers” with its mysterious doors will be waiting to be discovered by visitors. Also, guests will be able to slide down a double helix slide (from German manufacturer Wiegand Slide) to land in a pool of “sugar sprinkles”.

To create a multi-sensory tasting experience, the Museum of Ice Cream Miami is partnering with International Flavors and Fragrances. To celebrate the opening, the museum will offer new ice cream flavours from popular local ice cream maker Azucar Ice Cream. Also, “Cosmic Bliss”, a new coconut-based soft serve ice cream, will be served for the first time.

“Living in Miami, and opening a Museum at the Faena Bazaar back in 2018 was a dream for me and changed how I approached designing the past five museums we have opened around the world,” emphasizes Maryellis Bunn, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of the Museum of Ice Cream. “With this Museum being a permanent build, I was able to push the boundaries of design and interactivity, making this the creamiest, most colorful, and tastiest museum yet. You’ll see sensory elements from taste, touch and smell incorporated throughout”.

Manish Vora, also Co-Founder and Co-CEO, adds: “Bringing the museum to Miami Worldcenter has been a game changer as it truly positions the Museum at the epicenter of downtown Miami and as a global arts destination. We have had tremendous support from the city and mayor’s office over the past six years. Miami continues to open its arms to innovation in hospitality, allowing creative entrepreneurs like us to launch ambitious concepts in an increasingly difficult national building environment”.

Besides the future location in the Miami Worldcenter, the Museum of Ice Cream has further locations in New York City, Austin, Chicago, Singapore and soon also in Boston. ■
