Netherlands: Toverland Adds New Dark Ride Scene to “Fēnix” Wing Coaster

After the opening of its new “Avalon“ theme area and the “Port Laguna” entrance portal last year (cf. EAP 5/18), Dutch Toverland theme park has recently added a new dark ride scene in the shape of a dragon animatronic (supplied by Dutch Van Krieken Design & Engineering company) to its new “Fēnix” wing coaster, which – together with the “Merlin’s Quest” boat ride – is one of Avalon’s main attractions. “[…] If you take a ride on Fēnix, you will now also come in contact with Morgana and her ice-cold followers in the mysterious new dark ride scene. Morgana has turned herself into a vicious ice dragon and Fēnix must first overwhelm it before he can start his flight over Avalon,” explains Peter van Holsteijn, creative lead at Toverland.

Furthermore, visitors to Toverland can look forward to a new, sophisticated diving show, to be performed in the “Port Laguna” entrance area during the Dutch summer holidays this year. In 2018, the park recorded a boost in visitor numbers with a total of 812,000 guests (cf. our Park Report in EAP 2/19). (eap)
