(eap) The community of Parrish in Manatee County, Florida, is getting a community park later this year that will be located along Ft. Harmer Road near Parrish Community High School. The Parrish Civic Association and Manatee County have been working on the plan for the park for nearly eight years and are excited that it will soon become a reality. The Manatee Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved around USD 15.4 million (around EUR 14 million) for the park last year. In the first phase, there will be a playground, walking paths, a performance pavilion, picnic shelters as well as a splash pad measuring over 4,700 square feet (around 400 square meters), which can be used free of charge.

The splash pad was designed by Canadian company Vortex in collaboration with landscape architects Kimley-Horn Sarasota and is intended to provide fun for children of all ages. The area for older children will have a dumping bucket and two water cannons facing each other for kids to have a water fight with. A toddler zone will offer more functional water play to encourage tactile activities and water exploration. ■
