Sphere Abu Dhabi – UAE Capital Gets the World’s Second Sphere Venue
(eap) Sphere Entertainment Co., a premier live entertainment and media company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, is operating the globally unique event location Sphere Las Vegas, which opened last fall in Las Vegas, Nevada and is committed to next-level entertainment and guest experiences. Sphere Entertainment and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) announced today that Abu Dhabi is to become the second location worldwide for such an impressive building. Sphere Abu Dhabi is set to be as large as its sister venue in Las Vegas, making it a new landmark for the capital of the United Arab Emirates, which welcomed more than 24 million tourists in 2023. The building, which, echoing the design of Sphere Las Vegas, is likely to have a spherical outer shell with countless integrated LEDs for spectacular visual displays, will become an extraordinary venue for concerts, shows and all kinds of other events.
“The vision for Sphere has always included a global network of venues, and today’s announcement is a significant milestone toward that goal. Sphere is redefining live entertainment and extending the reach of its transformative impact. We are proud to collaborate with DCT Abu Dhabi to develop Sphere in their city,” said James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment.
H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, commented: “We are excited to bring Sphere to Abu Dhabi in partnership with Sphere Entertainment, providing our residents and visitors with an extraordinary new form of entertainment. Sphere Abu Dhabi will seamlessly integrate advanced technology with captivating storytelling, creating unforgettable memories for everyone who visits. This partnership aligns with our Tourism Strategy 2030, further establishing Abu Dhabi as a vibrant hub for culture and innovation. By embracing cutting-edge entertainment like Sphere, we’re not only elevating our global profile but also setting new standards in immersive experiences and cultural offerings.” ■
