UK: Fantasy Island Enthuses with New “Harrington Flint’s Island Adventures” Dark Ride
Located near the town of Skegness at the East coast of England, the Fantasy Island leisure park is presenting a new dark ride attraction this season: “Harrington Flint’s Island Adventures”. Designed by the Mellors Group (the park’s operator), the ride’s storyline is based on a fictional explorer and treasure hunter, Harrington Flint. Guests are invited to join him on his journey and come face-to-face with his old enemy Professor Crow, who is on a mission to raise an ancient Mayan god of war to take over the world. It’s the riders task to help Flint defeat Crow and shoot down the Mayan zombies… There are a total of five scenes, using a mix of media and physical content. With their interactive shooting devices (from Alterface), guests can aim at a number of targets. The ride system by ETF features five Mystic Mover vehicles acquired from a former dark ride in the UAE.
“Alterface and ETF were great to deal with, and had a lot of patience when working with our guys on site. Among other things, they changed the intensity of the guns to make the shooting quicker and more responsive,” describes James Parker, Director of Operations and Business Development at Fantasy Island. “What the Mellors Group has achieved at Fantasy Island, when they have never done a project of this kind before, is impressive. […],” adds Alterface CEO Stephane Battaille. (eap)
