UK: World’s First “The Gruffalo”-Themed Ride Opened at Chessington World of Adventures

The British zoo and leisure park Chessington World of Adventures has opened its new “The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure” water theme ride in due time for the start of this year’s park season, immersing its guests into the world of “The Gruffalo” children’s book written by Julia Donaldson. The book tells the story of a mouse who on its walk through the forest encounters a monster named “Gruffalo”. On the mouse’s trails visitors take a seat in round boats, travelling on the lazy river through a dark forest in which the Gruffalo’s history is unfold.

The new “dark water ride” is the result of renovation and reconstruction measures conducted by Merlin Magic Making (in cooperation with several supplier companies) of the “Imperial Leather Bubbleworks” attraction, which was closed down in September 2016. Originally, the attraction was inaugurated in 1990 under the name of “Professor Burb’s Bubbleworks”. (eap)
