USA: Andretti Indoor Karting & Games Opens New Texas Location – Andretti Orlando Featuring New VR Experience
Andretti Indoor Karting & Games has opened up a new venue in San Antonio (TX) this month, the fourth Andretti location in the US. Based on the concept of the existing Andretti facilities in Roswell (GA), Marietta (GA) and Orlando (FL), the over 9,000 square meter (over 100,000 square feet) large Texas venue features a multi-story kart track and a number of (gaming) attractions. In addition to karting race fun, the entertainment center’s main attractions again include an interactive XD Dark Ride from Canada’s Triotech company. It enables visitors to enjoy a 4D experience: participants are equipped with 3D glasses and laser gun sights to aim at the targets projected onto a large screen – motion seats and additional effects such as wind create highly immersive gaming fun.
“It is important for us to offer our customers thrilling experiences that they cannot live at home. The XD Dark Ride is a state-of-the-art attraction that appeals to all demographics. We allocate space for this attraction in every next location to open,” added Eddie Hamann, Partner in Andretti Indoor Karting and Games.
At its Orlando location, Andretti is also relying on state-of-the-art technologies: this month, a virtual rollercoaster experience has been opened, developed in partnership with Italian manufacturer Zamperla. On the “Gear Coaster”, visitors take a seat in replica motion-based coaster seats. Equipped with VR headsets, they experience a virtual ride, including movements and wind effects. There are currently three different virtual coaster experiences guests can choose from (e.g. “Thunderbolt” at Coney Island or “Mine Train” at Ocean Park Hong Kong), further VR content is to be added in the future.
