USA: Cedar Fair and Peanuts Extend Peanuts Licensing Agreement to 2025
Ohio-based Cedar Fair operating group, which focuses on regional amusement parks, water parks and active entertainment, Peanuts Worldwide (a subsidiary of DHX Media, Ltd.) and the family of Charles M. Schulz, creator of the Peanuts characters, have renewed the license agreement to showcase iconic Peanuts characters throughout Cedar Fair’s eleven amusement park locations in the US through 2025. The agreement covers the use of the IP characters in attractions, entertainment and sports, food and beverage, lodging and retail operations.
Matt Ouimet, CEO of Cedar Fair, looks forward to the ongoing cooperation: “The renewed relationship between Cedar Fair and Peanuts Worldwide allows both companies to develop and extend their brands, creating a more immersive experience for guests through meet-and-greets, live entertainment, merchandise and themed areas throughout the parks […],” he said. Cedar Fair, which in the course of this year’s Golden Ticket Awards ceremony, presended by Amusement Today, was honored with three awards in the categories “Best New Ride”, “Best New Kid’s Area” and “Best Steel Coaster” (please click here to see the complete list of all award winners), recently announced the debut of an expanded Peanuts themed children’s area at Carowinds (located in Charlotte/North Carolina). The “Camp Snoopy” area will feature five new rides, an approx. 743 square meter (8,000 square feet) climb-and-play area called “Beagle Scout Acres” and enhanced dining and relaxation facilities.
Diana Landry, CEO of DHX Media, sees important opportunities in the cooperation with Cedar Fair: “[…] The agreement extension speaks to the enduring appeal of the Peanuts brand, and as a leader in children’s content and brands, we value the opportunity to work with Cedar Fair to reach an all-family audience for Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang.” (eap)
