USA: Hersheypark Announces Two New Water Attractions for 2018
For its The Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park, Pennsylvania’s Hersheypark recently announced to launch two new water attractions in 2018: “Breakers Edge” is the first of the two new ProSlide attractions – a hydro-magnetic family water coaster. Bathing guests will board one of the four-person inline rafts to enjoy a splashing ride including several hills, drops, turns and “Flying Saucer” elements. Linear induction motors will ensure a smooth power-up and -down of the rafts. With a ride time of about one minute, the water coaster has an estimated hourly ride capacity of 600 guests.
Furthermore, guests can already look forward to the new “Whitecap” racing slide, which is announced by Hersheypark as the world’s longest mat racer. At a height of just more than 21 meters (70 feet), sliders get into position at one of the six lanes and then race against one another passing two tight 360-degree loops and open racing lanes. A slider timing system measures the time until landing in the splash-out zone to identify the challenge’s champion. Both family-friendly attractions will be located between the “Shoreline Sprayground” water play area and the “Intercoastal Waterway” lazy river. Riders and sliders must be at least one meter (41 inches) tall to experience “Breakers Edge” and “Whitecap”.
Including the 2018 novelties, The Boardwalk At Hersheypark will offer a total of six slides, a lazy river, a wave pool and more than 600 interactive water features. Besides the water park, the Hersheypark entertainment complex, which is operated by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, includes the Hersheypark leisure park, ZooAmerica and several accommodation facilities for overnight guests.
