USA: King Kong Attraction Now Open at Islands of Adventure
Universal Orlando Resort recently opened the new multidimensional attraction “Skull Island: Reign of Kong” in its Islands of Adventure theme park, which brings Peter Jackson’s giant gorilla King Kong to life (cf. EAP news from May 7th, 2015 & March 1st, 2016). Together with the “Eighth Wonder Expedition Company” visitors take part in a ride on an approx. twelve meter (40 foot) long and 17 ton heavy expedition vehicle, which leads the passengers into a mysterious world full of unknown creatures and predators. On a trackless ride system, the journey leads past ancient temple ruins and hostile natives, until the passengers finally encounter with the three-story tall King Kong itself. Whether the giant ape supports the visitors in their multisensory fight against the beasts and other creatures remains unclear.
Just one day after the opening of "Skull Island: Reign of Kong", Universal Orlando Resort has also opened the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort as its fifth on-site hotel, which expands the accommodation offer of 1,000 rooms in addition (cf. EAP news from October 3rd, 2014). The hotel in Caribbean design offers the destination’s largest resort-style pool, which features a slide, cabanas and a fire pit. The pool is surrounded by two sand beaches, a waterfall and a lush lagoon, which will take guests to Universal Orlando’s two theme parks and CityWalk via water taxi. (eap)
