USA: Sesame Place to Build its First Hybrid Wooden Coaster “Oscar’s Wacky Taxi“
Today, SeaWorld Entertainment – operator of the world’s unique “Sesame Street” theme park – announced that the Langhorne/PA-based Sesame Place® family park will open its first wooden coaster in spring 2018. “Oscar’s Wacky TaxiTM” is the name of the wooden-steel hybrid ride, which will be the second coaster at the park, besides the existing “Super Grover’s Vapor Trail®” rollercoaster. “Oscar’s Wacky Taxi” promises exciting riding fun on an approx. 365 meter (1,200 feet) long track, featuring a thrilling first drop of some twelve meters (40 feet) and numerours airtime hills, twists and turns. The new attraction, which is manufactured by The Gravity Group, will be one of the highest investments in the park’s history.
“’Oscar’s Wacky TaxiTM’ will bring a whole new level of excitement to Sesame Place® in 2018. We’re constantly looking for ways to enhance our guest experience, and our first wooden roller coaster is an exciting and thrilling addition to the park,” said Bob Caruso, Park President.
Earlier this year, the non-profit organization Sesame Workshop had renewed the existing licensing agreement with the SeaWorld group through 2031, giving “green light” for the development of a second Sesame Street theme park at another site in the US (cf. EAP news from May 23rd, 2017). (eap)
