Spreewelten Celebrate 25 Years of Bathing Fun and Relaxation
(eap) Germany’s Spreewelten Bad Lübbenau (located around 80 km south-east of Berlin) is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, an anniversary week with special events and activities will take place from September 16 to 22 next week. On the first day, everything revolves around the traditional renovation of the barn in the Spreewelten sauna village. Here, guests can experience centuries-old craftsmanship live. Guests can also look forward to a courtyard evening with live music from the local band “The Bluesbeards unplugged” as well as a sauna show.
“This anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to thank our guests. Alongside our first-class team, it is them who have made the Spreewelten a special place over the years,” says Steven Schwerdtner, Head of Marketing at the Spreewelten.
A lot has happened since the Lübbenau leisure pool opened on July 23, 1999 – back then under the name of Kristallbad Lübbenau. After the pool was handed over to the municipal company of Spreewelten GmbH in May 2007 (owned by the town of Lübbenau), the Lübbenau pool began to evolve. In 2008, the leisure pool was extensively renovated and refurbished so that penguins could move into the pool, which make up a unique selling point of the Spreewelten still today. In spring 2012, the “Baldura” experience restaurant (now a hotel restaurant) and the sauna village, which today comprises 14 different themed saunas, were opened. Furthermore, in 2017, the development into an adventure resort with the building of the Spreewelten Hotel began. At the same time, the penguin facility was almost tripled in size and the water slides were redesigned into interactive digital slides (by Aquarena in collaboration with company reddo) – read more in our Spreewelten cover story in EAP 2/2019 and the “Technology in waterslides” special feature in EAP 1/2019. Thanks to its special offerings, Spreewelten welcomed a total of around 319,000 visitors (day and hotel guests) last year. ■
